Glamorgan graduates success at Mazuma

Mazuma

The University of Glamorgan branch of GO Wales visited Bridgend based Accountancy firm Mazuma, and experienced first hand it’s success. Accountancy and Finance Graduates Charlotte Macmillan and James Price, used Wales’ flagship work experience scheme to gain paid, project-based work experience which ultimately resulted in a full time role.

Natalie Hughes, Operational Manager at Glamorgan explained that “Often, small businesses do not have the time or resources to develop ideas and new projects. Sometimes, they don't have the necessary specialist skills to complete a specific task. By hosting a placement, they can access the skills and benefit from the enthusiasm of a student or graduate. The company gets to choose from a selection of high quality candidates, and often the placement is so successful the Graduate gets taken on permanently.”

Lowri Williams, General Manager at Mazuma explained why the scheme suited their needs.  “We were looking for someone specifically to help us with our new clients coming on board.  As we grow our business, we require people to support our current team of bookkeepers and we had a proposal for two graduate level projects.  GO Wales provided a simple and well – managed solution to our needs, and there was support throughout which helped take the headache out of HR!”

Companies who may be interested in taking part in the scheme are encouraged to act promptly, as the current phase of funding concludes towards the end of this year. Please visit www.gowales.co.uk or call 0845 225 50 60.
