Jobs Growth Wales Graduates

Are you an employer who could create an additional job within your company for a young graduate for six months?

If the answer is yes and you wish to access the Jobs Growth Wales graduate programme you need to be able to demonstrate the following for the post you want to create:

  • It should be a six month opportunity
  • Be paid at least the National Minimum Wage rate for the age of the graduate
  • Minimum of 25 hours per week up to 40 hours
  • Jobs have to be additional to the existing workforce, e.g. you cannot be currently recruiting for the post in question
  • Has to be a 'quality' job opportunity for the young graduate to gain valuable work experience which will help them in gaining sustained employment at the end of the six month period
  • The job cannot be created to cover sickness leave or maternity cover.

GO Wales is the managing agent for the graduate strand of the Jobs Growth Wales Programme, and will work with you to identify suitable vacancies which will be advertised on the GO Wales web site.

The benefits are:

  • A subsidy of £100 per week towards salary costs for a full time position
  • Free advertising on the GO Wales web site
  • Easy access to graduates
  • GO Wales will help you to manage the recruitment process, forwarding relevant applications to you
  • Injection of new, high level skills and knowledge into your business
  • GO Wales will keep in touch for the six month period

Other useful information

Participants must have a contract of employment which notifies in writing their terms and conditions of employment with the employer upon starting the programme.

Graduates need to be gainfully employed for the duration of the programme and the jobs created must be additional to, and not replace, positions that would otherwise be filled. For recruitment to the programme to take place there must be an individual job description which outlines the structure and scope of the job role that the participant will undertake.

Furthermore they must be notified in writing of any subsequent changes to their terms and conditions or job duties. The outcome of the programme is to support young graduates to enter sustained employment including and where appropriate an apprenticeship opportunity.
