Claire Conway a 3rd year English Literature student at Cardiff University took part in a 5 day voluntary work taster with PR business Petersens.
The company were so pleased with the contribution that Claire made during the voluntary experience; they offered her a 10 week paid summer placement.
Claire explains:
“Initially the task involved a market research survey - I volunteered to be a team leader in which I co-ordinated a team of six to complete the survey in Cardiff central. This led to an invitation to Petersen's in which I collated the survey results at their offices and drafted potential press articles.”
“The work experience has given me an insight into the working environment and has prepared me for the type of tasks I will be expected to complete. I now realise that my degree skills definitely compliment the PR and marketing industry.”
Dana Hashem, Account Executive at Petersens is delighted with the outcome:
“The GO Wales taster programme is a great resource for us here at Petersens, as we are a small agency and it's often useful to have an extra pair of hands on deck. Claire has been instrumental in helping us deliver a survey project for a client, and showed so much enthusiasm and initiative throughout her time with us that we decided to ask her back for further work experience over the summer period!”
