Media savvy students produce short films to support Eisteddfodd event

Students filming on location

Three students from Lampeter University have been involved in the production of a series of short films to promote this years National Eisteddfodd whilst on a GO Wales Work Taster with Golwg 360.

Susanna Louise Bowen, Richard Beecher and Luke Adams are all studying Media Studies and wanted to broaden their media relations experience with a local business. Golwg were more than happy to host all three students via the work taster programme to assist with a film project.

Golwg 360 wanted to launch a series of short clips introducing Ebbw Vale and the surrounding area that would be hosting this years National Eisteddfod. Each week a new clip would be posted on their blog leading up to the event plus one special short film of the event itself.

Susanna Bowen’s main task was to create and translate a script and present in Welsh for the video:

“In past I had very much been a part of the production team and not shared many experiences in front of the camera. Even though I had interviewed people, this was a totally new experience for me as I was in front of that camera all the time!”

“I believe that this experience has been incredibly useful, not only has it expanded my knowledge of working in the field, but it has also given me more confidence in presenting and other aspects of media which I was once not too familiar with.”

Owain Chief Executive of Golwg 360 said:

“It’s been great to work with such an enthusiastic and positive group of people. The way they’ve taken the project on has been really impressive and the results totally exceeded my expectations. The videos that they’ve produced look great on the golwg360.com site, and fit in perfectly with a number of projects we are working on at the moment. I hope the work taster has also provided a national platform for the students work and I’m sure the experience will be valuable for them in terms of career development.”
