The GO Wales scheme has sealed an extra three years of much needed funding, after the latest government employment figures revealed that almost 22 per cent of young people across Britain are now out of work.
Funded by the Welsh Government and the European Union Social Fund, GO Wales has helped nearly 2,000 graduates and students to secure paid Work Placements with Welsh businesses since the scheme began and 65 percent of participants continue to be employed after the placement has ended.
GO Wales offer graduates and students various services to help them make the best start to their career after university. With graduate unemployment at an all-time high, the scheme helps individuals by arranging paid work placements, job opportunities and funding for training in businesses across Wales. Over 1000 businesses across the country have been involved in GO Wales’ Work Placement scheme since 2009.
Programme Manager at GO Wales, Jackie Cresswell-Griffith, said, “We are pleased to be able to continue to provide our services to help graduates and businesses get the most out of working together in Wales. Seeing such positive outcomes proves that GO Wales makes a genuine difference to graduates’ employability.”
GO Wales, sponsored by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales is delighted to be awarded funding to continue for another three years. “This is a difficult time for graduates starting their careers and also challenging for businesses. GO Wales is here to help; all our services can be accessed via our website and are open to graduates of any age and businesses in any sector in Wales.”
