A leading Carmarthenshire business is helping to pave the way in building links with education. Melin Consultants, based in Llanelli, signed up for the innovative GO Wales project, which makes it possible for students and graduates to develop their careers through quality work experience and training opportunities.
“GO Wales is an exciting project and one which should interest any business keen to develop young talent” said Melin Consultants director Jamie Best.
The team at Melin has just benefitted from a 10-week placement by Rhys Gregory, a 22-year-old management and business graduate from Aberystwyth University.
The 10-week placement is a big stepping stone for Rhys as he seeks to develop his career as a digital marketing strategist.
“I am interested in a career in business and in digital marketing in particular, so the GO Wales placement with Melin Consultants has been ideal. It has given me a taste of the ‘real world’ work environment and the encouragement to go on to greater things in business.”
Rhys added: “Melin Consultants are a firm recognised throughout Wales for their expertise as sustainable building consultants and it has been a delight working with the team members at their new base at The Beacon in Dafen, Llanelli”
“The work has been varied and challenging and has included development of the company’s website, all forms of digital communication, development of social media strands, building a comprehensive marketing database, liaising with the media and forming strategic views on marketing what is a very successful business.”
Mr Best said: “It has been a delight to have Rhys as part of the team at Melin Consultants during his placement. All businesses are aware of the need to build our skills base and ensure that we grow the knowledge economy in Wales. The GO Wales scheme is one way of helping to achieve those objectives.”
As part of his GO Wales placement, Rhys is completing a project which will result in a City and Guilds award.
