Music Journalism and Broadcasting graduate Kate Rees applied for a 12 Marketing and PR work placement with PAI Group in Llanelli to broaden her experience. As a result of her experience Kate now has a full time marketing role within the company and a new qualification to add to her CV. She explains;

“I worked for the PAI Group during my placement. The company specialises in the design, integration and installation of sound, lighting and audio-visual systems.”

“My project focused on the production of print and digital promotional material for the company. My online marketing responsibilities included writing all the content for the organisation's brand new website and managing the various social media accounts. To promote the company via print, I created copy and sourced images for 10 case studies and a newsletter, which were subsequently sent to clients.”

“The placement was very rewarding and I thoroughly enjoyed putting my journalism and marketing skills into practice. Launching the brand new company website and the print-based case studies were both major highlights of the experience, as it was great to see my hard work had paid off. However, the biggest sense of accomplishment was being invited to stay on as a full-time employee.”

“As part of my placement I completed the Professional Development Award, it was really well structured and proved to be an added bonus whilst undertaking the work placement. The qualification encouraged me to regularly reflect on my progress during the 12 weeks and enabled me to identify what aspects of the role I was confident with and what attributes still needed further work and development. With the various sections being split throughout the experience, completing the award was never problematic or stressful.”

“I have found the GO Wales placement to be a fantastic experience that has enabled me to utilise my existing skills, develop and expand on new ones within a working environment, all whilst gaining a new credible qualification. As a recent graduate looking to get into the working world, it provided an invaluable stepping stone and with it being a paid placement it was viable and easily accessible.”
