Merioneth County Show is looking for a student or a graduate to provide support with the Marketing and Organisation of this summer's agricultural show, to be held in August.

 

About the organisation

 

Merioneth Agricultural Society is a registered charity and is the hosting organisation responsible for staging the Merioneth County Show. Merioneth County Show is an annual county agricultural show consisting of competitions for farm livestock, horse and pony, horticultural, produce and exhibitions by community-based organisations and trade exhibits of interest to all members of the family.

 

About the placement

 

The main purpose is to provide direct support to event organisers and to plan, create and distribute operational and marketing initiatives for Merioneth County Show.  You will develop and update the show’s bi-lingual website and develop related IT systems to link and support the show administration systems.

 

The website should be a developmental process and as well as hosting an introductory homepage and contact details it should include details of all show competitions, schedules currently in Word format and contain the final results after the event.

 

The Show also provides the opportunity for the business community to promote its interests and space at the Show for Trade and Community based exhibits. The website should provide the means for the business community to link and communicate directly with the appropriate staff administrator.

 

This successful candidate will also provide direct support and services to the North Wales Event Group which is a collaborative group of event organisers with the aim of joint marketing and joint working to improve all aspects of event organisation.

 

Location

 

Office facilities are provided at Criccieth, and some home working will be possible. Travelling across the region will be required to meet the requirements of the placement.

 

There may be a possibility of additional work depending on the success of the placement.

Essential Requirements :

 

  • A Marketing or IT related degree or similar
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Good communication skills in both English and Welsh - written and verbal
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Experience of using social media networks
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, particularly Access, but also Word, Excel Power-point and Publisher
  • Creative skills to type-set copy advertisements
  • Ability to liaise with and advise other members of the team
  • Ability to directly contact and communicate with business and other organisations, and an interest in local community activities 
  • Self motivated and able to work flexible hours to meet the project timescales
  • Up to date knowledge of available IT software and the ability to design and develop user-friendly websites would be advantageous

Expected Outcomes :

 

By the end of the 10 week placement you will have planned and distributed marketing initiatives for Merioneth County Show. You will have developed the show’s online, bilingual content and provided support to the Event Organisers. A suitably qualified candidate will also have provided support in developing the website.
