What you need to know

Full-time Graduate Academy

The full-time Academy lasts for 6 weeks and consists of a 2-week residential training course followed by a period of work experience. It is then rounded off with a 2-day residential final conference at the end of Week 6.

Due to the way we are funded there are some restrictions around who is able to take part in the GO Wales Graduate Academy; please see here for more information. We welcome applications from candidates of any age with any degree.

Where is it held?

The training course and final conference for each Academy is held on the Lampeter campus of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Lampeter is a small market town in Ceredigion surrounded by green rolling fields and open countryside. Feedback from participants shows a preference for the course to be held in a quieter location with fewer distractions, allowing them to focus fully on the team-building and learning process.

How much does it cost?

It’s free. We pay for the training, your accommodation, your meals and the additional support provided by our Graduate Academy team. We also pay all Institute of Leadership & Management fees.

In addition, we can pay travelling expenses up to a maximum of £100, to enable you to travel to and from Lampeter.

During the period of work experience, if this has been arranged by GO Wales and you are not receiving income from other means (such as wages or benefits), the Graduate Academy will also pay you a training allowance of £20 per day (£100 for a 5-day working week).

If you are claiming benefits, you should seek advice from your Jobcentre Plus Adviser regarding the effect on these benefits of joining the Graduate Academy. It is likely that your claim will be suspended or closed altogether but your entitlement can only be confirmed by Jobcentre Plus.
