Peter Jervis
Organisation: MijMoj Contemporary Furniture Design
Contemporary furniture design company MijMoj in North Wales recruited graduate Peter Jervis via the GO Wales Work Placement scheme to assist with a product design project; working on a new range of products from concept to manufacture. Designer Gafyn Owen explains;
“The objective of the placement was to acquire additional design and manufacturing capability to support our business in producing new products for the MijMoj range as well as batch manufacturing the existing products produced.”
“The placement is currently ongoing with new practical workshop skills being developed by Peter allowing him to understand more about the manufacturing process which informs his design approach to developing new products. This has resulted in several new products being developed, prototyped and added to the MijMoj website ready for the Christmas period.”
“We would definitely recommend GO Wales to other businesses as a good way to recruit and trial additional members of staff with minimal risk as taking on a new member of staff can be a big step for any small business to undertake when expanding the workforce.”
Peter Jervis has already has a great deal of design input during his placement with MijMoj and has increased the production output of the company, one of the main highlights of his experience was attending a London Trade Show, Peter said; “MijMoj had a stand at TENT LONDON design exhibition. I helped set up and manned the stand for the duration of the show, meeting thousands of people and introducing them to the MijMoj product range. I have developed a new insight into furniture design and manufacture as a result of my work placement experience.”
