Sarah Drury wanted to gain experience in an environment relating to historic buildings and was particularly interested to learn more about what it’s like to work for the National Trust.

Sarah has developed many skills from her taster as well as finding it a really useful learning experience. She experienced a variety of roles within the Castle, and spent time assisting with a marketing exercise, helping the Education team prepare for and assist at a Family Fun day, shadowing the House & Visitor Services Manager and the House Steward. She says:

“Tasters are an excellent scheme for students to sample any career they are interested in pursuing. This particular taster offered me first-hand experience of working in an historic building.”

“It has been time well spent in that it has been both interesting and enjoyable. I’ve been able to experience many aspects of working within The National Trust and am grateful for the time spent with me by the friendly and experienced staff and volunteers at the Castle.”
