Touch Trust is a pioneering charity based at the Wales Millennium Centre that provides Creative Movement Education Programmes for individuals affected by ASDs, complex needs and behaviour that is challenging.
The overall aim of the project was to establish a list of positive and negative behaviour demonstrated towards Touch Trust staff and carers by the children during a 10 week observational study.
Romani gained a high level of knowledge and understanding of behaviour whilst working with autistic children, he also developed skills in research techniques and analysis.
“During the placement I demonstrated a friendly and professional attitude to the work that I carried out for autistic children and adults. The Touch Trust provided me with an environment that gave me the opportunity to learn both theoretically and from a practical point of view.”
Touch Trust gained a valuable piece of research as a result of the placement which will help support their growth and development.
Charlotte Aubrey, Creative Project & Training Coordinator at Touch Trust was pleased with how Romani fitted into the ethos of the charity during his experience with Touch Trust:
“It has been wonderful to have Romani on placement with us. He has been undertaking some research projects looking at the benefits of our creative movement education programme for individuals on the autistic spectrum. This research will be extremely beneficial to Touch Trust's growth and development. Romani has fitted in to the ethos of Touch Trust beautifully showing such sensitivity and care towards our special guests.”
