MINaero Ltd, an aircraft interior design and build company, employed Jiun Horng full time after he demonstrated excellent capabilities through an initial ten week placement as a Design Engineer. Jiun, originally from Malaysia, secured a work placement to gain quality experience in the industry.
“I was taken on as a Design Engineer which gave me the opportunity to use a lot of useful software which enhanced my knowledge in computer modelling. It was quite a learning curve for me especially in Civil Engineering which definitely benefited me most.”
“My objectives were to be able to master MSC Patron and FEMAP which are both finite element modelling software. As a result I am now confident in using the software and the design knowledge of structural steel works, which have increased my skills development considerably.”
Jiun was offered a full time position with MINaero once the placement had ended. Terry Pugh, Engineering Manager is pleased with the outcome:
“Jiun's standard of work has been extremely good. The GO Wales scheme encourages industry to develop undergraduate engineers like Jiun which is extremely beneficial to us. Jiun was offered a full time position as a result of the placement.”
