The MePlan50+ project is about working with individuals and employers to enhance opportunities which will contribute to the increased employment, retention and re-integration of the over 50s.
The objective was to develop and produce a video and case study materials of the research undertaken of those over 50 in employment, self employment and volunteering.
The objective at the end of the placement was to have successfully designed, filmed and created a video to showcase the research gathered by the MePlan project.
Kane Hicking & Tom Fide worked on the project as a partnership they reflect on their experiences:
“After searching for media based film and video work for over a year Kane and I felt like we were going nowhere. Our degree qualifications didn't seem to stand for much without the added professional work experience. Whilst searching for relevant work we came across a GO Wales placement that allowed us to use our skills in a professional environment.”
“The 10 week placement with MePlan50+ has enabled us to use what we learnt at university and, build on vital work related skills essential for future employment. We have seen lots of graduates move out of Wales in the hope of more media related opportunities. It is important for students and graduates in Wales to take notice of the fantastic service GO Wales offers. After the initial ten week placement Kane and I were asked to stay on with the MePlan50+ team to the end of their project completion.”
“At the end of October we will have created an EU funded DVD that raises awareness for issues surrounding employment over fifty. As well as making a difference to this cause we will also have a professional example of our work to create future opportunities for ourselves.”
