Despite the recession 490 students and graduates secured paid work placement opportunities with businesses across Wales through GO Wales last year.
So far; 365 students and graduates have completed their work placements and 65% of these have been offered longer term employment with the placement company or elsewhere.
Sian Edwards took part in a summer placement and has been offered further work upon graduation.
Whilst on placement with LCWR Architects in Aberystwyth Sian assisted with approval applications for the restoration of a Grade I listed building. Sian produced construction drawings; her input and ability exceeded the organisations expectations significantly and enabled project submissions to be in on time.
Sian said:
“I have learnt to work independently and have had the opportunity to work with a team of creative architects, this has been an experience which will set my portfolio apart from others.”
“I believe I experienced more working for a small business as I was given a range of tasks and nobody specialised in one area.”
