The company initially took on Victoria Kirwan-Taylor as a work taster to work on children’s and women’s literature, this was such a success that the company to offer Victoria a work placement as an Assistant Editor.

Project Objective

Victoria’s project was to edit, produce, market and coordinate a collection of short stories. With £1 going to Cancer Research UK for each one sold. Victoria had never before worked in a role as an editor so this was to be an exciting new experience for her.

Victoria gave her reflection on the work placement:

“My responsibilities included; proof-reading, type-setting, managing PR and arranging book signings. This gave me a real insight into the whole process involved in editing a book and proved extremely useful to Hazel as she employed me for a further three months!”

Project Outcome

“The book ‘Sexy Beach Shorts’ that I worked on featured in the Booksellers Top Ten Chart and has received considerable media attention including coverage in The Independent, The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph and The Daily Mail.”

“I feel so proud to have been credited as the Assistant Editor and to have worked on a project which has given me excellent experience and a tremendous insight into the publishing world.”
