Lowless & Lowless have practiced as solicitors in Pembrokeshire since 1898.
The business employed Leanne Williams a law undergraduate to support with the administrative duties of the practice and the legal team.
Leanne gained a lot of knowledge in the legal field and was offered a position as a Paralegal Client Advisor.
Leanne learnt a lot from her experience she explains:
“The placement meant that I was able to experience how a law firm operates on a day to day basis and as I result I could apply this to my studies. The whole process was very well organised and I knew exactly what was expected of me.”
“I wanted to gain a greater knowledge of the legal field on a practical basis, which I feel I achieved and developed my skills in communication, problem solving, time management and coping with change.”
“The placement has definitely confirmed that I would like to pursue a legal career and work as part of a team. It has also made me realise that I would like to work in a small to medium sized firm as I feel the employer/employee relationship is more effective in terms of communication.”
Tim Farnfield, Practice Manager has been thrilled with the graduates they have recruited via the GO Wales programme.
“Over the last few years, we have hosted a number of graduates on the work placement scheme. Almost unfailingly they have proved to be enthusiastic, capable people who have provided us with a great deal of assistance over the holiday period.”
“They gain valuable work experience, and in addition to the work they do for us, we have the opportunity to see them at work on something of an extended interview.”
“One of our previous placement students has been working for us for two years now, training to become a solicitor, and she qualifies next month. Leanne has also been offered a permanent role with us as a paralegal client advisor, and will be commencing her solicitor's training shortly. A success for her and the company.”
