The Cardigan Youth Project, Drop-In and Information Shop (A43), is a registered charity set up to provide help and support to young people in Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. Area 43 has hosted a number of youth work placements through the GO Wales programme.

Project objective

Area 43 needed a youth worker to help out with various projects at the centre.

Project outcome

The GO Wales programme has helped Area 43 develop a team of highly skilled graduates who plan and deliver projects within the organisation. All of the GO Wales graduate placees have been offered further employment with Area 43 as a result.

Sally Edwards, Manager of Area 43 is delighted with the outcome:

“We have found that our GO Wales placees have been able to integrate well into our team, make thorough use of our induction process, participate in training and take advantage of the support offered during supervision.”

“Carolyn Ashling who is currently on placement with us is making use of her degree in Childhood and Youth Studies during her day to day contact with young people who use Area 43. She is also able to deliver training both to staff, volunteers and clients in various art and creative design projects.”

“The GO Wales scheme has expanded the capacity of Area 43. The graduates on placement with us generally have had the maturity, imagination and capability to initiate, plan and deliver stand alone projects within our organisation. The staff team and the graduates have benefited by sharing skills and experiences and the clients of Area 43 have been offered a wide range of new opportunities and training.”
