BBC Wales

The BBC Wales headquarters are based in the Llandaff area of Cardiff with further studios and offices in Bangor, Wrexham, Aberystwyth and Carmarthen. As the largest broadcaster in Wales, the BBC has plenty of opportunities to gain work experience and employment within its various creative capacities.

S4C
S4C's remit is to provide a Welsh language service during peak viewing hours. It does not produce programmes of its own - it commissions programmes in Welsh from the BBC and other independent producers. A variety of programmes are broadcast on S4C, including live national events, sport, music, news, drama, entertainment, children, culture, rural and lifestyle, totalling 80 hours per week of Welsh language programmes. S4C is financed from its advertising revenue and a fixed annual grant from the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Headquarters are based at Llanishen in Cardiff.
ITV Wales
Previously known as HTV Wales, ITV Wales is part of the national broadcaster ITV plc. The regional service covers the whole of Wales, with the main office and station at Culverhouse Cross in Cardiff. ITV Wales also has outlying offices in Colwyn Bay, Newtown, Carmarthen and at Cardiff Bay. They currently produce 9½ hours a week of programmes in the English language about Wales, including 5½ hours of news in Wales Tonight, and various bulletins throughout the day and at weekends.
Broadstroke Production
Broadstroke is a film and television production company with offices based in Cardiff. They produce content for the industry both on location and in their 1,600 square feet studio. Broadstroke cover all aspects of production from live action and animation to digital effects.
Calon TV
Calon TV is a new company formed by the former management of Siriol Productions. Siriol were the producers of the Bafta winning “SUPERTED”, “HILLTOP HOSPITAL” and the animated “UNDER MILK WOOD”. Based in Cardiff, South Wales Calon TV is expanding into a wide range of kids' live-action entertainment, factual and drama programming. Currently in production at the studio are “HANA'S HELPLINE” for S4C/Channel 5/ZDF and “BOBINOGS” for BBC Wales.
Motion Blur Ltd
Specialists in animation and art for broadcast, film, games, web and interactive media. Their client sheet includes amongst others, S4C and the BBC. They have worked on numerous high profiled projects including Warner Brothers, Ubisoft, The National Lottery, Art Attack and Hit Entertainment. Based at Pwllheli, Gwynedd.
Spite Your Face Productions
An independent film and animation production company, working in a wide range of styles and media. They also offer illustration services. Previous clients include Python (Monty) Pictures, The LEGO Group and Lucasfilm. Based in Newport.
Barcud Derwen
Is the largest television and film facility outside of London in the United Kingdom. Derwen is a post-production house based in Whitchurch, Cardiff, with an established track record of award winning work for broadcast, film, and new media production. The company employs nearly thirty staff with fourteen full time editors.
Aspect Television
Based in Cardiff, Aspect Television is an independent television production company making both network and regional programmes. Since the company was established in 1999, Aspect has gained a reputation for producing high quality factual series and one-offs for broadcasters like the BBC and Discovery.
Griffilms Ltd
Are an award winning media provider who create animation and design for TV, film, print and the web. They also have a live action depart specialising in factual and children's programmes. Griffilms have bases in both Cardiff and Caernarfon.
Atticus Design and Media
Atticus work with many large global companies including BP, Rio Tinto and CNN. They offer a multidisciplinary approach to clients including designers, animators, marketers and strategists. Atticus has a studio at Cardiff Bay.
