GO Wales advisers at higher education providers support eligible students to access graduate jobs, and match students with employers for work experience.

GO Wales is the umbrella name for the funding that Welsh higher education (HE) providers receive from the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales to support students to develop their employability. The funding is to support students who, for various reasons, may need a bit of extra help to achieve their career ambitions when they graduate.

All support is flexible and student-centred, based on what the student needs to develop their employability.

GO Wales advisers at HE institutions support students by:

Sourcing work experience of various lengths, online, in-person or hybrid

Reimbursing costs so that work experience is affordable for all

Giving bursaries for other employability or employment-related costs

Offering career coaching

Setting up meetings with employers to find out about a role, company or sector

Arranging networking opportunities

Delivering other employability support, including confidence building

Providing mentoring support

Students

If you’re an HE student studying in Wales and need a bit of extra help to develop your employability, then GO Wales support can empower you to reach your potential and achieve your goals and aspirations. GO Wales may be known by a different name in your provider, so contact your provider to see what they offer. Click here to download contact details

Employers

The GO Wales programme needs employers who can offer opportunities to students who are interested in what you do. As well as investing in a student’s future by offering them the chance to find out more about your organisation, role and sector, you could identify prospective new recruits who know about and are interested in your business, benefit from a different perspective and have an opportunity to demonstrate your social responsibility.

If you’re an employer who is interested in inspiring students about your sector and offering opportunities to the workforce of the future, then contact your local provider. Click here to download contact details
